Ahead of the kickoff of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) on January 13 in Morroco, Super Eagles skipper and shot-stopper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has made it clear that from the first game against Rwanda, all the games will be considered as a knockout game.
Speaking with mastersportsng.com, Ezenwa recounts the “painful” exit at the 2016 edition of the CHAN tournament in Rwanda. He said, “I shed tears because I never experience such a thing, winning your first game, drawing your second game and losing your last game and you are out of the competition”.
The shot-stopper stressed the need for the team to be focused saying” Libya who won the 2014 edition in South Africa, Rwanda who hosted the 2016 edition and Equatorial Guinea who paraded most of their team at the world cup qualifiers and nations cup are no pushovers”.
The home-based Eagles are in Group C alongside Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda and Libya.
The 2018 CHAN will run from January 13 to February 4
and the Salisu Yusuf-led side will open their campaign against Rwanda on January 15 in Tangier.
